  • Recap: Miss Gator’s Bridal Shower Mayhem

A few weeks ago, okay… more like almost a month ago (I know.. I’ve been a bad little gator!), I had my Bridal Shower (thrown by the lovely Mama Knight). The result? Utter amazingness. *all images taken by Gator Bridesmaid.

When I walked in, I was greeted with this beautiful table arrangement in our wedding colors (aqua & yellow), along with my favorite flower – daisies, a picture of the Mister and I from our Blue Springs Shoot, and some seriously awesome favors from Yankee Candlewedding day” scented. You might ask, what does “wedding day” scented candles smell like? Amazingness… that’s what! But really, like babies, but I love it. Our house smells amazingly fresh, and I’m saving that huge jar candle to burn in the bridal suite the day of. :-)

Me with some of my best-ies: Gator Bridesmaid, Sunny MOH, Childhood Best-ie, and Seminole Bridesmaid.

That Sunday was an absolutely beautiful day in Flagler Beach. The sun was shining and the weather was just so gosh darn beautiful. Just perfect.

Mama Knight crowned me with a beautiful daisy crown. She later said she was ‘passing the torch’ to me to take care of her son. I loved this image even more after she said that… cause boy did she pass a big torch on to me. Mr. Knight is quite high maintenance. Just kidding! Love you, my Knight in shining armor!!!! :-)

Sunny MOH and I enjoying the beautiful March weather!

Mama Knight and I digging into some yummy food! Those sandwiches were delicious!

After some socializing and yummy food, it was on to BRIDAL SHOWER GAMES! And as my friends and family know, I LOVE playing bridal games!!!!

Umm… how cute are Seminole Bridesmaid and Sunny MOH in this picture? And practically the same height? They are just too cute, I want to pick them up and put them in my pocket.

I got to choose the models for the “Toilet Paper Wedding Dress” game and I chose Seminole Bridesmaid, Sweet Bridesmaid and Gator Momma.

Team Seminole Bridesmaid doing their thang. I love Seminole Bridesmaid and Sunny MOH’s faces in this picture. Classic.

Team Sweet Bridesmaid at work, crafting their masterpiece!

Team Gator Momma, throughly convinced they will win.

    The Result?

I’d like you to meet Chic Bride, White Trash Bride, and Tribal Princess Bride.

The overall winner was Chic Bride, do to the mere fact that her dress stayed together the longest and fully covered her. White Trash Bride, complete with toilet paper cigarette, won Most Creative, and Trial Princess Bride won Most Accessorized Bride, for wearing daisies, bows, gloves, belt, hat/turban thing, and train. I enjoyed watching the whole experience, it was pure hilariousness!

Gator Momma and Me. ♥ her!

Then it was on to opening gifts. If you saw my bridal shower invitation post, you know that all the gifts were themed around the honeymoon, or from our Bed, Bath and Beyond gift registry.

My family friends were incredibly sweet and generous. When I came home after the bridal shower and showed Gator Dad all my goodies, I told him that it felt like it had been my birthday times 10. I just couldn’t believe how amazing my bridesmaids and my family were to me, showering me with love, good times and gifts all weekend long.

Opening some gifts from Sunny MOH. :-)

Totally love my hat from Sunny MOH! Cant wait to wear it on Mr. Knight and I’s honeymoon!!!

What is a vacation without Vera Bradley totes? I tell you, it isn’t a very colorful vacation! Love these from Mama Knight, Sweet Bridesmaid, Western Sistah, and Mema Knight.

My yummy daisy decorated cake! It read “I am Beloved and my Beloved is Mine,” a quote on a ring Mama Knight wears.

Yah, we tore that cake up! So delicious!!!

As a ‘thank you’ gift to my lovely host, Mama Knight, I made her a basket of her favorite drink…. Mexican Coke!!!!

Complete with “Do not touch” tags for each!

Mama Knight loves Coca Cola, she must drink several of them a day. Even when she was sick in the hospital, Little Knight’s girlfriend brought her a case of Coke, that’s how much she loves it. I blame Mama Knight for the Coca Cola addiction I now have. :-) So when I found out that she wasn’t able to find her fav, Mexican Coke (because is contains natural sugar), I ran down to La Tienda (a Mexican restaurant and store here in Gainesville) and bought a few for her. Mr. Knight then took me out to Walmart to pick up the basket and colored paper (thank goodness the Easter stuff was already on the shelves). Add a few tags, here and there… and viola! You have a cute little basket for your hostest with the mostest!

I had an absolutely amazing bridal shower. It was even more then I ever dreamed. The work that all the women in my life did to make it come together means so much to me and I’m so so thankful. It has taken me this long to recap because there just was so much to say, and I wasn’t even able to say it all in this post. :-)

    Thank you Mama Knight!

  • A Bridal Shower Invitation with Character

    Dear Mr. Postman,

Thank you so much for bringing me such joyful things in the mail… as a few days ago I opened the mail to an invitation for my bridal shower next weekend! Looking forward to more joyful mail (please no bills!).

    with love,
    Miss Gator

I totally just received the cutest bridal shower invitation in the mail (I might be biased, since the invitation is to my bridal shower, but, what can I say?).  Mama Knight ordered super cute invites and enlisted the help of Knight Dad and Mr. Knight to make a cute little map to the shower, and a theme/registry info card (plus, I heard that Sweet Bridesmaid helped address them). It was truly a family affair! I feel incredibly lucky and blessed to have such an awesome and thoughtful future family!

Oh yes, and the invitations certainly included my alter ego, Miss Gator. Look how happy I look in the little sketch Knight Dad did of me for the map? My eyes are practically jumping out of their sockets! I also heart {like real bad} that it actually says on the invitation that the bridal shower is hosted by “Mr. Knight’s Mom.” How adorable is that?! Gator Bride ALL THE WAY!!

  • Registering Our Little Gator/Knight Hearts Out

Thursday, Mr. Knight and I went and registered for gifts at Bed Bath and Beyond. To tell you the truth, we hadn’t planned on registering at all. When Mr. Knight and I moved in together, we were merging two kitchens, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, two living rooms… we had two of everything! Granted our ‘two of everything’ consisted of towels from our college dorm rooms, sheets and bedding from our High School years, and very girly (blue with polka dots) and very man-ly (black) dinnerware. Needless to say, Mr. Knight and I feel like we really don’t need anything (although a few things deserve to be upgraded).

So, one of the first things we did after booking our hawaiian honeymoon to Maui was register our honeymoon at Honeymoon Wishes.  We felt that an experience was worth more to us then material things. Our guests could find us on the Honeymoon wishes website and (if they so choose) gift us with a snorkeling adventure, surfing lessons, gas for the road to Hana, lunch by the ocean, or even a biking adventure down the volcano (how cool is that?!).

Then, there arose a problem. And when I say problem, Mr. Knight will tell you there wasn’t a problem. I have a bridal shower being hosted in my honor (how lucky am I?) by Mr. Knight’s Mother, that is fast-ly approaching. While I can’t wait to eat yummy food, spend time with the wonderful women in my life, and play fun shower games, I am nervous about not registering at a ‘big box’ store and receiving a bunch of weird/non-returnable items (married women out there know what I’m talking about, Gator Mom and Gator Dad still have a few non-registry wedding gifts hiding in their closets). Plus, registries make it easy for guests. If a guest would like to gift you with something that will be with you and your husband throughout your entire lives, they can look up your registry and get you something you need (instead of something you will hide in a closet for the rest of your life).

So off we were to Bed Bath and Beyond, armed with a list of things we actually need, so we wouldn’t be distracted by all the shiny objects and go registry-crazy.

We only managed to cross off 3 items on this list… it helped to know what we were looking for, though!

After we picked up our handy dandy scanner (of which Mr. Knight immediately grabbed and started pressing buttons), we were off!

Mr. Knight had a good time with the scanner. Thank goodness there was an ‘Opps’ button on the scanner, so I could un-scan anything he scanned without permission!

So we scanned our little hearts out for about an hour, jamming out to Miley Cyrus over the stores stereo (I even caught Mr. Knight humming to the music). As we were quickly finishing the kitchen gadget and electronic area, we ran into every Bride’s ‘must-have’ registry item…

The  infamous Kitchen Aid Standing Mixer

I’ve been told it’s the ‘holy grail’ of wedding registry items. Yeah… Mr. Knight and I quickly averted the Kitchen Aid Standing Mixer, we don’t have the counter space for this baby nor do we make anything that would require such a piece of heavy duty machinery. As much as I would like this sweet mixer in ‘ice’ to match our kitchen… I will just have to wait till we have a big house and I start a baking company out of our house (which is not happening anytime soon… or at all).

Rule #1 of Registering for Mr. Knight and Miss Gator is: don’t register for any pyrex.

Seminole Bridesmaid received TONS of pyrex at her bridal shower and wedding… and when I mean TONS, I mean… she can make a dish and throw out the pyrex instead of cleaning it because she has a garage full of more pyrex. It is quite comical how much pyrex she has. {hmmm…. I wonder if she will be gifting us with pyrex?} Our response… we didn’t register for any pyrex. What we have now is enough. :-)

When we had finished scouring the store for things we needed, we headed to the front of the store and had our registry printed out. Here are a few things we registered for:

    source: Bed Bath and Beyond

Where did you all register? Did any of you already have just about everything before your wedding? How did you deal with that?
