  • 1 Year Down

Mr. Knight and I have been married for 1 year… ONE YEAR!?! I can hardly believe it. Wasn’t it just yesterday we were cutting endless invitations and fretting over whether an ivory vest would go with a white shirt? Ahh, the worries of planning a wedding.

This year has been amazing. So much has changed for us both personally and professionally. It has certainly been an eventful year with many weekends spent working towards our future together. I guess you can tell by my light posting from the past year that we have been busy enjoying the newlywed life.

Photoboothing-it-up at Ryan & Jen’s Wedding we shot as Gator Bride Videography (the business we started as newlyweds!)

I love being able to call Mr. Knight my husband, which also makes chasing after him and calling him “boyfriend” so much more fun. No idea why this is fun, but it just is! I love giving his honeymoon tattoo a kiss before I head to work in the morning and greeting him at the door when he comes home from work. I love our daily walks to the mailbox together and sitting around talking about our day with each other. I love “date nights,” which are spent cooking dinner together and cuddling up on the couch watching our latest Netflix movie. I love how he playfully talks with our two little kitties, Pepper and Gator Kitty, as if they were little people running around the house. I love how he’ll show up with flowers for no reason, and with daises (my favorite). I love how thoughtful he is towards his family and mine. I love that he embraces my obsessive compulsive-ness, and will move furniture, rugs, glasses, plants, pictures, etc. to just to the right place to make me happy. I love that he is my biggest fan. I love that when I’m depressed he talks me through it and always reminds me of what’s truly important in life. Most of all, I love how hard he can make me laugh.

    Happy Anniversary Babe!

And because we ate our cake topper 11 months ago I didn‘t like the idea of eating year-old cake, we had a new topper made to look exactly like our cake top from our wedding day. It was adorable and I loved taking our little toppers out of storage for the special occasion. Oh yeah, and fresh pineapple carrot cake tastes a million times better than the month-old cake we tasted 11 months ago. For sure.

And, keeping with tradition, I gifted Mr. Knight with a special paper-cut by Storeyshop with a lyric from our favorite song:

    you and me together
    we could do anything

Together, we could truly do anything.

  • ♥ 4 Months Ago Today

4 months ago today I married the love of my life. I can still remember just about every moment of that day – and our wedding video helps when I start to forget :-).

I look like I’m attacking Mr. Knight. I went in for “the kiss” so quick he barely had time to wrap his arms around me! I like to be “in charge” of the situation. haha.
photo by Starks Photography, ghetto crop job by yours truly

It would be easy to say that these last 4 months have been bliss, just perfection but, in fact we have been so busy we have barely had time to think. We are both exhausted.

We’ve spent the last four months traveling all over to visit family (every weekend), which included a driving trip to Erie, NYC and Panama City. We’ve designed a few websites, started new jobs (that would be me!), celebrated Mr. Knight’s birthday, attended bridal showers for friends, attempted to install crown molding and new baseboards, brainstormed ideas for another blog (rhymes with Bator Mife), designed and re-designed our wedding album (still in process), said farewell to our good friends who left for Thailand, went to a NFL football game, and are still not done with recaps!

Before I go any further, how about a photo montage of what these very busy Newlyweds have been up to?

Gator Bridesmaid and I chillin’ at Brantley’s locker (the Gator’s QB) at the Gator Women’s Football Clinic.
Totally did this the weekend we got back from our honeymoon.

Posed at random rest stops on the way to Erie, PA for a cousin’s wedding.

Hung out in an Egyptian Temple (from EGYPT!) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
Mr. Knight testing out his fish-eye lens

Bid farewell to SunnyMOH and Groomsman S as they embarked on their journey to Thailand. You can catch them blogging about their adventures in Southeast Asia on their blog.
Designing and coding their blog has kept me busy, and I’m still not done!

Presenting my Thesis project (and representing the University of Florida) at the annual AIA Florida Convention.
AIA stands for the American Institute of Architects. :-)

Visited Seminole Bridesmaid in NW Florida for some 4th of July fun which included sushi, shopping, chauffeurs (cough cough Mr. Knight), yummy food, and gossip!

Chill-laxin’ at the Jaguars/Broncos game which was a BIG game to watch in Florida.
Yes, we are wearing Jaguar colors and not Broncos colors for Tebow. Although Tebow is our Homeboy, the Jaguars are our home team! I can’t say I didn’t borrow Knight Dad’s binoculars a time or two to eye Tebow on the sidelines.

Oh, and how could I ever forget… we STILL haven’t finished our THANK YOU CARDS!!

Yes… that last one keeps me up at night and you think with being up at night I would just finish writing them. It would help if Mr. Knight wrote a few but he managed to get out of it on the fact he has very poor/ugly handwriting and insists on writing with an ink pen that bleeds all over the place.

It has been a busy last 4 months (as you can see). We have only spent ONE weekend home with no plans in the four months we’ve been married. We were looking forward to this coming weekend being our 2nd weekend home since our wedding but… more plans came up that we simply can’t say no to. I guess you can say we are people pleasers. We will learn this whole “saying no” thing soon or later.

What ever happened to the calm/relaxing part of your wedding being over? Once we left our reception on our wedding night I felt such RELIEF. It was over. All the planning, worrying, organizing… it was all over and had turned out better then I ever dreamed.

I swear… Mr. Knight and I need a vacation. Seriousness.

Did you get an unexpected flow of things to do after your Wedding? How did you deal? We had NO IDEA we would be so busy. We thought all our “busy time” was going to be before our Wedding!

  • 7 Years of Love♥ and Happiness :-)

Today marks the day of Mr. Knight and I’s 7 year anniversary. Yes I said it, we have been together 7 years and he is just now marrying me? I kid. Truth be told, we started dating really young (when we were 16) and knew we had to wait till after we both finished college to tie the knot. Even though Mr. Knight asked me to marry him 1 month into our relationship (yes, he really did do this) we knew realistically we couldn’t, but in our own little world we were husband and wife. :-)

Through the years we have seen each other change, mentally and physically. For me, it is crazy to look back on those first few years. I always think, what was this hott piece of man doing with little ol’ me? I felt then, and feel now that I’m truly blessed to have Mr. Knight in my life! How about a trip down memory lane?

Warning: this is going to be an extremely LONG post. So sit back, relax and enjoy! :-)

If we are going back in time… then lets go way back… starting with the 7th grade.

Mr. Knight and Miss Gator in Band in the 7th GradeThis is the first recorded photograph of Mr. Knight and I, taken at our 7th year band concert in our middle school’s lunch room (I know… classy). I played the flute and he played the oboe. We shared a music stand together… you can say that 7th grade is where it all started.

Mr Knight and Miss Gator at they Junior Year PromHere we are with our lovely Mommas, posing for pictures for our Junior Prom (we had been together about 6 months at this point). Doesn’t Mr. Knight look handsome? Prom also just happens to fall around my birthday and Mr. Knight showed up with a beautiful ring (with diamonds in it!) for my birthday. Love him! :-)

Mr. Knight and Miss Gator at their Senior Homecoming DanceHere we are before our Senior Homecoming. We look so little!

Mr. Knight and Miss Gator at their Senior PromHere we are taking photos for our Senior Prom. Don’t you just love Mr. Knight in the Black on Black combo? Yeah… I totally picked that out. :-) I still can’t believe that was 5 years ago. DANG!

Mr. Knight and Miss Gator at the UCF vs. UF GameHere we are at the UCF vs. UF Game… strange… Mr. Knight doesn’t seem to be wearing his colors….

Miss Gator's Christmas Gift from Mr. Knight... a CRUISE!The Christmas before we got engaged, Mr. Knight took me on my first cruise as my Christmas gift. How cool is that? Even cooler, my future Mother-in-law and her husband upgraded our room to a balcony room. Totally cool. What else? Mr. Knight’s grandparents had the crew decorate our room with balloons, and streamers, complete with a cake and champagne. His family is too good to me!

I knew Mr. Knight had wanted to propose to me on the cruise. He later said that he felt it would have been the perfect time to do so. But, both he and I knew it wasn’t financially the right time  (besides, I waited this long to marry him… what is a few more months?).

Us at Seminole Bridesmaid's weddingHere we are at Seminole Bridesmaid‘s Wedding. I was the Maid of Honor and had to give a toast. Mr. Knight knew how nervous I was and did his best to make me feel better. He even let me practice the toast on him and gave his helpful suggestions to me as to what would make the toast better. That’s one thing I really love about Mr. Knight, he is a great listener. When I come home after a long day of school, he will ask me about my day because… he genuinely wants to know, and will sit and listen to me.

One of the things I love so much about Mr. Knight is how supportive he is of anything I want to do. Even when I mentioned to him that I might want to stay in school and get a second Master’s degree, he totally supported me and said I should do it. It is truly wonderful to have someone like that in your life. He never crushes my dreams, he always supports them and pushes me to fulfill them.

Miss Gator and Mr. Knight in Ferryland, NewfoundlandHere we are in Ferryland, Newfoundland. Mr. Knight’s family were incredibly awesome and took us to Newfoundland for a family trip to visit relatives. It was incredible up there and even better to get to share the memories with Mr. Knight.

And now here we are… 5 months and 27 days till we are Mr. and Mrs.!

I really had a great time writing this post. It was great to look back on all the photos of us through all the years we’ve been together. All the trips we have taken together, all the major steps in life we have taken. I’m so incredibly proud and blessed to call Mr. Knight my fiance (and future husband!). I can’t wait to be his wife.

Happy Anniversary Mr. Knight! I look forward to many more happy and loving years with you! ♥ I still can’t believe it has been 7 years. You are absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to marry you, have a family with you, and grow old with you.

    Love you my sweetness!
