  • Andy and Dena’s Gator Homecoming Wedding

Andy + Dena // Highlight Reel from Gator Bride Videography on Vimeo.

So, obviously living in Gainesville we are MAJOR Gator fans. When Andy and Dena contacted us with their idea to have a Gator Homecoming Wedding, we were practically jumping out of our seats! After many weeks of patiently waiting for their day to arrive (we were so excited – we couldn’t contain ourselves!), their day finally arrived.

We started the day at dawn… literally. Since the Gator Homecoming Game was around noon, we had to get started early. Which, in our opinion, made for some pretty awesome sunrise shots out at Paines Prairie. Dena was an absolutely gorgeous Bride and exuded orange and blue pride all day long. Their reception tailgate was held at the University of Florida’s Vet School and was beautifully put together by Celebrations Catering, Masterpiece Weddings and Dream Day Cakes.

  • Gator Fridays :: Gator Cake Toppers

Now, I know y’all have seen the fabulous cake toppers Bunnywithatoolbelt made us for our wedding. Shoot, these little babies inspired this blog! I guess you can say, Gator Bride started with the commissioning of these little characters. Thank you Hilary for bringing our little mascots to life!

Here we are, just chillin’ on our wedding cake. ♥

Since then, Hilary has received quite a few commissions for custom college-themed cake toppers. Just recently she sent me an album featuring some of her adorable Gator creations, along with their stories. Check them out below. :)

This first topper was actually commissioned by the fabulous Kari, who helped me find my wedding dress (and who was also getting married). She asked Hilary to create a topper for her Groom’s cake that would incorporate the Gators, the video game Halo, and the band Coldplay. I’m pretty amazed at what Hilary came up with. Perfection!

This little topper was commissioned by a University of Florida Alum for his Groom’s cake. The topper features the Groom enjoying his favorite past time with his beloved German Shorthair pup.

Aren’t these two adorable? Easily one of the cutest cake toppers I’ve ever seen. They make me so happy. :) Oh my goodness, and the bride even has a mini veil! Love the details.

I think I can look at Gator cake toppers all day! :)

Now, on to a few cake toppers that are hard for my little Gator eyes to see. Oh, I feel for these Gator Brides marrying Seminole Grooms.

I’m actually totally digging how Hilary gave the Seminole Groom a little mohawk of feathers. Totally a different take on the Seminoles. I wonder if the Groom is a musician?

This set is probably one of my favorites. Not loving who it’s for (that team out west), but loving the inspiration. The bride and groom met in the marching band, so they wanted little cake toppers showing their team spirit and instruments. Mr. Knight and I both played the flute. We fell head over heels for each other in middle school band class, but didn’t start dating till high school.

These cake toppers really get me going. Poor Gator groom!!!

We loved our cake toppers Hilary made us, so much that we just didn’t want to keep them boxed up. This past Christmas we made them into ornaments for our tree. Currently, they are displayed prominently on a shelf in our living room. I get so much joy from seeing them everyday.

Did you have sentimental cake toppers? Where are your cake toppers now? Did you come up with a creative way to display them? I’d love to hear!

Also, be sure to check out Hilary’s Etsy shop. She has a few super cute bride and groom cake toppers that are on super sale! Oh, and if you want to see more of Hilary’s AMAZING custom cake toppers, check out her Picasa Album.

  • Gator Fridays :: DC + Vanessa

This Gator Friday feature is an adorable Gator engagement shoot I received in my inbox from Jenny of Captured Photography. I’m dying to know where this building is. Isn’t it amazing?! click these babies to view larger… you know you want to!

And what I love even more about DC and Vanessa’s Gator-ific engagement shoot? They’re high school sweethearts. Ya’ll know I hold a special place in my heart for high school sweethearts. Hello, Mr. Knight and I are practically middle school sweethearts. Ridiculous, I know.

Loving the “will you go out with me, check yes or no” note. Classic!

Jenny of Captured Photography (who is also DC’s sister, must be nice having a photographer in the family), also captured the proposal.

Even DC’s Dad got in on the action wearing an “I ♥ DC” shirt after the proposal!

Be sure to check out the rest of DC and Vanessa’s sweet engagement shoot. They are too cute. Thank you Jenny for sharing this fan-tabulous orange and blue e-shoot!!!

  • A VERY Gator Save the Date Film

When I received this video from fellow Gator Bride, Felicia, I was floored. Her and her fiance started dating their freshman year at the University of Florida. For their Save the Date video they decided to return to the home of the Gators, where they made their first home. The video includes footage of the campus, some tubing at Ginnie Springs and them eating watermelon on the FLORIDA FIELD. How AWESOME is that?! Check out this unique and VERY GATOR save the date film!

Have a fabulous and safe Halloween my little Gator Bride-ers!!!

  • Just Mauied :: When Bubbles Attack

I had this great idea to use bubbles as a ‘prop’ to get Mr. Knight and I comfy during our couples pictures. Fabulous idea until… the bubbles fought back.

The bubbles went in our eyes, and our mouth. They were not cooperating!
By the way, Mr. Knight makes some of the BEST faces. Love him.

Mr. Knight bracing for impact. We had a strong wind that day, which made for us feeling quite cool but not so good for blowing bubbles.

Finally, the bubbles decided to get with the program and work for us the way I dreamed!

I love how it looks like Mr. Knight is teaching me how to blow bubbles. What a cutie.

This little beauty is Mr. Knight and I’s favorite picture… EVER. You might even see it again soon in a little project I’ve been working on that has been taking me WEEEEEKS, cause I’m crazy OCD like that.

Overall, very pleased with my little bubble prop. The only props I really brought with us was the bubbles and our iPhones, and I think they were enough for us (although I wish I had packed some sweet heart shaped sunglasses… bummers).

Our favorite part of our ‘couples picture time’ was sitting in the grass blowing bubbles at each other. So relaxing! It was especially funny to see some of our guests drive by us on the road behind us (see – road approx. 12′ behind us… didn’t notice it? yeah, our photographers are amazing). They looked slightly confused! A few honked, which got us super excited.

I can’t say it enough how amazing it was to see Mr. Knight before our ceremony. It was the best part of my day (besides pulling away from our reception… more on that later). These moments with him are some I will always cherish. :-)

What was your favorite moment from your wedding? Was it a tender moment with your sweetie or the moment you pulled away from the reception? SPILL!

If you haven’t entered my GIVEAWAY for fabulous Juicy Couture Earrings then you better get your butt over there and enter that SHIZ!

And in case you missed it, this is what’s happened so far:

our first look on a bridge
    moment with Gator Dad
We got silly with our iPhones
The girls and I mastered laughing
put on that little white dress
The boys got full of themselves
I was hungover while getting our hair did
    We rehearsed with yummy BBQ
    The ladies lunched
